* at 852 am CST... widespread rain continued to spread across west
central Alabama... falling across areas which have already received
one to three inches of rainfall. Additional rainfall amounts of one
to two inches are possible in the warned area. Heavy rainfall will
cause ponding on area roadways and flooding of low lying areas and
small creeks.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham al has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Sucarnoochee river at Livingston.
* From late tonight to late Saturday night... or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 8:30 am Wednesday the stage was 14.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 18 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage after midnight tonight and
continue to rise to near 19.9 feet by Friday morning. The river
will fall below flood stage by Saturday afternoon.
* Impact... at 18 feet... flooding of farmlands around Livingston
occurs and cattle should be moved to higher ground

Lowndes... Montgomery... Perry... Shelby... St. Clair... Talladega
and Walker. In east central Alabama... Calhoun... Chambers...
Clay... Cleburne... Lee... Macon... Randolph... Russell and
Tallapoosa. In northeast Alabama... Cherokee and Etowah. In
northwest Alabama... Marion and Winston. In southeast Alabama...
Barbour... Bullock and Pike. In west central Alabama...

* Through late tonight

* several rounds of thunderstorms are expected through tonight.
Many locations will receive 2 to 3 inches of rain through noon
today before a brief decrease in intensity and coverage are
noted. Thunderstorms are expected to intensify and expand in
coverage late this afternoon and tonight when another 2 to 3
inches of rain will be possible. The rainfall may occur in a
rather short period of time which may lead to flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

During heavy rains... keep children away from storm drains... water
catchments... and waterways. Shallow... gently flowing water can
become a raging torrent in a matter minutes when heavy rains
occur.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
